Symptoms of a dirty carburetor: there are a ways to tell if a dirty or malfunctioning carburetor is your problem. If you have an electric starter, take your air intake off, push the starter and spray starter fluid straight into your carburetor. If it starts and revs up for a few seconds then that means your have a dirty carburetor.

Applied a tiny drop on the small tear (about 1.5 mm long). Assembled back the carb and rode it for about 2 weeks, until the new replacement arrived. Fitted in the new original then was posted to an oversea job. Ok, lately went for a short ride and came upon a new friend using the same J1 -ZX7. He had the same problem before.

1995 Honda Nighthawk 250 possible carburetor problems? I lowsided my bike this morning in the parking lot at work (it rained last night and my rear tire is completely bald; I lost traction in a turn going about 5-10 mph).

All the tutorial videos and hype make carb cleaning seem harder than it really is, and ninja 250 carbs are as simple as they come. Go slow, refer to your manual's diagram, and take pictures if you want to be extra careful. I cleaned '05 ninja 250 carbs last november and it took less than two hours, start to finish.

With engine idling, turn accelerator adjustment screw clockwise until it lightly seats. Snap throttle open—engine should stumble. Turn screw counter-clockwise ¼ or ½ of a turn at a time, until engine responds to throttle twist with smooth, quick response. Shumate650. there is dirt in the needle and seat in your carb. the needle cant seat properly and shut the flow of fuel off to the carb, thats why its coming out of the overflow tube. you need to take your carb apart and clean it really good. it would also be a good idea to put an inline fuel filter on it if it doesnt have one already. good luck.

142 posts · Joined 2011. #3 · Feb 9, 2013. I think the choke is not providing enough fuel. When the choke is engaged at 1/3, the bike will idle (cold) right around 1-1200 rpms. Turning it off or turning it on all the way kills the bike. Definitely not too rich.
